A Beautiful Evening at Sameba

Apr 29, 2011 by

In this post I’m going to talk about Sameba Cathedral, the main and biggest Orthodox Church in the Georgian capital - Tbilisi.

Sameba was built between 1995 and 2004 years. The church is located at Avlabari –  a historic district of Georgian Armenians.

Sameba impresses from the very beginning you enter it. It has high white coloumns, a number of icons and the altar which is exquisitely arranged in yellow-white colors.

The church is always full of people, both local inhabitants and tourists that come to explore this wonderful place.

The church is very big not only inside but has a large area outside as well. The plants all around the church give the area a fresh and green look. You can also enjoy a splendid view of Tbilisi city with its long narrow streets and colorful buildings from there.

If you look above, you’ll have the feeling that the sky is so close to you that you can touch it with your hands…

And the sky was so beautiful the day I went to see the church that I could not resist my temptation to take pictures of this blue endless space.

Then my sister suggested me to go down to the lake (which is in the church yard) and watch beautiful swans swimming, so we went down together to watch this amazing sight.

I watched these beautiful creatures which made the place even more beautiful and the burning sun that was calmly going down hiding its dim sun rays…

Suddenly I felt myself sinking in the world of dreams…

Yes, Sameba is the right place where you can spiritually relax and enjoy every minute of your stay…

If you ever come to Georgia, don’t miss your chance of visiting this saint place.
